Affiliate disclosure

TL;DR

Some links to Amazon in our baking guides are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, Honest Bread earns from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Bakers can also pay for labelled Featured or Boost placement. Neither affiliate income nor paid placement has ever put a bakery in the directory, moved one up a list on merit pages, or earned one a verification stamp.

Honest Bread is a free directory, and running it costs money. Here is exactly how that money is made, because a site about honesty in bread should be honest about its own crust.

Our Bake at home guides and the baking kit strips on bread pages link to Amazon searches for the equipment and flour we genuinely recommend. As an Amazon Associate, Honest Bread earns from qualifying purchases. It costs you nothing extra, and you are always welcome to buy the same things from your local kitchen shop instead. We would quietly respect you more for it.

Affiliate links are marked for search engines with a sponsored tag, and they only ever point at general product searches, so you choose the brand and the price.

Bakers can pay for Featured or Boost placement. Both are always labelled on the listing, both change visibility only, and both are explained on the pricing page before any money changes hands.

What money cannot buy here

  • A place in the directory. Listings are free and earned by baking from scratch.
  • A verification stamp. That is earned by signing the pledge, never purchased.
  • A kinder write-up. Descriptions say what the bakery does, full stop.

If you ever see anything on this site that looks like it crosses that line, email [email protected] and it will be fixed.

Honest Bread is run by Jon Blades, trading as Honest Bread, in the United Kingdom.

Questions, answered

Which links on Honest Bread are affiliate links?
Links to Amazon in the Bake at home section and in the baking kit strips on bread guide pages. They point at product searches for things like proving baskets, scales and flour. Links to bakeries, their websites and their Instagram accounts are never affiliate links and never will be.
Does a bakery pay to be listed on Honest Bread?
No. Every listing is free and always will be. Bakers can pay for Featured or Boost placement, which changes visibility only, is always labelled as such, and can never buy the verified stamp. Verification is earned by signing the pledge, not by paying.
Do affiliate links cost me anything?
No. The price you pay on Amazon is the same either way. If Honest Bread earns a commission, it comes out of Amazon's side, and it helps keep the directory free to search and free to join.
